christmas eve in toronto, 2007

first christmas without my family. was still a very good and calm christmas eve though. we started the day with breakfast at the rainbow cafe on church street, bought two presents, food shopping and bought mandelgave. then spent the rest of the day inside, cooking, relaxing, waiting for my parents to come on skype. which they did in the end, and we eventually got the webcam to work. was definitely one of the highlights of christmas eve, but so was the treasure hunt laurence had done for me, and the roast dinner, and the rice pudding. i was pleased with the rice pudding from a tin, who knew it was just made from risotto rice though. we had a good christmas eve, and tomorrow we are going up to the farm in barrie with the rand/maize family. and we are gonna try out my new snowshoes and gaiters. very exciting. hope everyone had a good christmas eve like i did. thanks very much christians for inventing this holiday, even though jesus was born in june. and thank fuck i haven't had to work in retail this year, and have been comfortably sheltered from the commercial christmas hassle.
happy holidays everyone

I think jesus was born in the fall, sometime between september and november (http://home.sprynet.com/~pabco/ptofxmas.htm). The bible isn't really clear on this.
Did you ever think about how the wise men (and probebly everyone else) gave jesus presents. Isn't it a mockery of jesus to only give presents to each other? Shouldn't we like sacrifice something for him or give HIM presents instead?
